TRAINING AND ORIENTATION

Maiti Nepal has established Prevention Homes at problem-
affected and high-risk areas. These Prevention Homes
conduct skill and income generating training programs for
girls and women at risk.

Maiti Nepal has been conducting such programs to prevent
illiterate and poor girls and women from being trafficked.
Under this program, Prevention Homes have been estab-
lished by Maiti Nepal at Hetauda in Makwanpur district,
Chisapani in Nuwakot district, and Bardaghat in
Nawalparasi district.

Prevention Homes conduct awareness programs on how to
avoid being trafficked, and income-generating skill training
programs for illiterate and poor girls and women from
neighboring villages of problem-affected areas.

The objective of the Prevention Homes is to train these girls and women to be self-reliant and independent. Such trainings last for six months, and each Prevention Home has a capacity of training 30 girls and women at a time. After the training, the girls and women are provided with micro-credits by Maiti Nepal for self-employment, or to establish small cottage industries.
